Prolly not the right spot for this post, but i figured it would be the get the most views here... So heres the deal... I live in Negaunee and cannot find anyone to ride with. The main reason for this being is my stupid work schedule. I'm in search of some info about a snowmobile club, or someone that might have a bit of vacation or even some time off mid week to ride with around here. Anyone on this site the lives in MQT county? I'm blessed to live in one of the greatest places on earth, and have a brand new sled in the garage but with no one to ride with, its kinda hard to enjoy... Never thought i would have more money then time... So if you live around here, or have a cabin, or often visit this area, lets do some riding!!!

I know there is a club based out of Gwinn and I think another out of Sands near Crossroads & last I knew they both did grooming for the local trails as well. A common stop for sledders is Crossroads Bar - across the street is the Arctic Cat dealer and Marquette Powersports has their new building just west of the old one on 41. I see sledders in and out of all 3 of those places on a regular basis when I am up... reaching out to them and the clubs may yield some results if posting here does not. My dad still lives in Gwinn and I hit the trails when I come up to visit - but it isn't nearly often enough... otherwise I would be out at all hours too :D

I know your pain. I work odd hours also. Odd hours for odd guys as I say. I work rotating twelve hour shifts for the power company for the last thirty five years. I have the same problem. Most of the time the wife and kids have better things to do so I go alone. Usually N. Wisconsin. Most of the time I can hook up with someone depending on their riding style. Joining a club would be your best bet and it is good to be active in a sno mo club also. You will meet some nice people there. On another note I was from your area in 1978 and before. Lived in Ishpeming and my father had a cabin in Gwinn on west bass lake. I was a construction iron worker at the Empire and Tilden mines. All of my family is still there. Look at it this way; at least you have the snow to ride. Not so here in Illinois.

thats actually where i work is at the mine. I work a 7-7-7 swing shift. Which makes it super hard to ride with people that have a regular 9 to 5 job. I only get one long weekend a month, and waiting a month in between rides just doesn't work for me. I will look into the snowmobile clubs up here and go from there...

I live over in Harvey, but I have a "normal" job, so the only time I have to ride is weekends. I also tend to do most of my riding solo.

Seems like every year, fewer and fewer Yoopers own sleds. Guess its due to the ever increasing cost of the sport.

Hiawathaland snowmobile club is the group that does the local grooming. They have a clubhouse just north of the Crossroads. I can't seem to find any web site for them.

Looks like Hiawathaland doesn't have a site - but Forsyth does :) http://www.forsythsnomobileclub.com/ Doesn't seem to work in Google Chrome - but it does in Internet Explorer. I know they have 1 groomer for sure - they might have 2. I think they take care of the southern part of the county while Hiawathaland does the north?
