Thanks, Gary. I was honored to be the guest speaker at the Norhtwoods National Veterans Cemetery in Harshaw yesterday. God's blessings to all who have served or are serving now.

Perfect!
That sure was some "day at the beach"!
Just study those faces in that landing craft, with some barely out of high school;
imagine yourself among them.

The Greatest Generation!

Not to discount the service of those who came after, but after The Greatest Generation vanquished the "Greatest War Machine on Earth" in just over 11 months (From D-Day, June 6 1944 through Germany’s unconditional surrender of its armed forces on Tuesday, May 8, 1945) I sometimes have difficulty with our spending 12+ years in Iraq (March 20,2003 – December 15, 2011 & 30 December 2013 – 9 December 2017) and the on-going 20+ years in Afghanistan.
Did we lose what the Greatest Generation had?

Did we lose what the Greatest Generation had?

Nash, I think the key was "11 months" and a bit longer for Japan. In that 11 months we had one president, one congress and one vision. I've read that FDR knew that the American people would lose patience if it was drawn out. Still, it took 3 years to build up the material and manpower to get the job done. Iraq and Afghanistan saw multiple presidents, congress, and politicians affecting the outcome or lack of progress. One could include Viet Nam and Korea also for that matter. Things change once the politicians get involved. Thanks to all who serve, past, present, and future!
