Supposed to leave in the morning for a 4 day stay in the Mercer area. Sounds the Trail 17 grade is pretty much shot but wanted to see if the trails in the surrounding area are holding up??? Any suggestions on which direction to head leaving Mercer? East toward Eagle River? North? Any feedback on how the trails in the woods are holding up??

Their club did a live facebook feed last night and said besides the grade everything else was fair to good yet. And also took a live video ride through town on grade and it was snirty but rideable. Sounded like if you stay off the Grade trails were pretty good yet. I would think North and west would be best, Price County, Hurley area. Braaapfest is this weekend in Springstead so it could be pretty busy.

The Hurley area has more snow but getting there without getting on 17 is a journey. I would take 8 out towards Beaver Lodge and connect with 10 to 8A which connects back to 8. Take 8 back towards Yukon 51. Depending on trail conditions you could cross HWY 51 from the Yukon to trail 13B to 13 and head towards Bear Chasers or the Hurley area. Keep in mind that you may find some road sections that are not in great shape on this stretch. If you get to Bear Chasers, take 9A or 14 back towards Mercer and hit the flowage to the Sunken Horse. From there you can take 10 back into Mercer. That loop would give you some decent miles. Based on the temperatures forecasted, things may go to junk quick.
