Starting on Oct 1, 2010 MI residents will no longer be using the State Park Annual Entrance $24 "Window Stickers". After Oct 1 when you renew your car plates, $10 will get you a Park plate - good for all State Parks, Forest, Boating Access sites.

I know I always balked at $8 daily or $24 annual when I just wanted to visit a park for one day or camp a couple nites. .But I will buy this plate. .Now regardless how often or little you visit, the price has been LOWERED.

I've enjoyed Ludington and Tawas a few times climbing the lighthouses at both.

Paid my $10. The way I understand, if your b'day (plate renewal) is between now and Oct 1, 2011 you get a FREE pass to enter until renew date.
Since no visable sticker on the windshield to be viewed and only a little tiny " p " which takes a magnifing glass on plate sticker to see, the park strangers will have to come out and look at your plate OR you may have to present your car registration which reflects your $10 payment to enter. The days of a friendly smile and wave you on thru must be over. But well worth 10 buckks.

I'm wondering how many of you Micheganders are paying the extra - $12 now - for the Park endorsement ??

Not us.......we're not really into the parks......the only one I really go to regularly is Big Spring.......and in the winter it's FREE.......as long as you get between the posts beside the gate, which everyone does........
