I know from Bergland to CH is about 150 miles one way, so I'm thinking about the same from Watersmeet. 300 miles round trip.

As you cant go directly "north" from Watersmeet I would agree right about 200 from what I can remember.

I've got an old UP map from 2004 that has a mileage chart on it that I like to refer to now and then. I quick looked at it, and it showed 132 miles from CH to Bruce Crossing, so I think 150 is pretty close.

Thanks for the info! That's pretty much what I was thinking too, were gonna head up 1 day, and then back on 2nd day. Our girls can do this pretty easy, leaving from Ia Dec 26. El Nino needs to go away! Lets get some SNOW!!

T-BONE,

Have you made the trip to CH before? I'm assuming you have. If you have any other questions, let us know. Have fun!

We did that run about 25 yrs ago, we usually ride around Watersmeet, Gogebic, Rockland,Silver City area and I boondock up there in early March. I wanna show our group some new scenery and think it would be more fun to go up to CH and stay a nite.

I ride out of Lake Gogebic usually, but like to make it up there once a year on a saddlebag trip if possible. I recommend the Mariner North for a place to stay. They have nice cabins with heated floors or standard hotel rooms. Bar and food right there along with massages at $1 per minute. Be sure to fuel up before the only gas station in town closes at 6 pm I believe. You have to hit Brockway Mountain during the daylight and check out the views, especially overlooking town and the bay. There are some fun side loop trails up there too if you want a short night time ride. I'm sure others will have more advice.

agree w mspease on Mariner N, also the Tamarack inn has great breakfast
and gas in town is cash only.....
