#1 too hard to send pics on this site, so no pics (I did send one to Slim and P.D. though).

Drove from TRF Minnesota north through Cat Country up to Roseau, MN to Polaris Country and on the way back south to TRF (my new home) saw a semi-trailer of about 36 crated Yamaha snowmobiles (off the truck) "a dropped load" it appeared at the Petro Pumper gas station.

Trails look like fun here, many are one-way with a trail going with the auto-traffic direction on both sides of the road since the ditches are flat and wide. May be able to do a 400-500 mile day ride with good snow/grooming.

Get on the MN DNR website and get a set of the quadrant maps. These are good and give you a real idea of how everything is connected. From TRF you can go 4 directions. All good riding if here is snow. Some of the ditch trails are kind of boring but you can cover some ground in a hurry. The Marshall county groomers just northwest of TRF do an outstanding job. Also if you ditch it south to HWY 2 you can get on the Soo Line Trail and get to Wisc very quickly. Again IF there is snow. Lake riding to the northeast on LOW. Woods riding to the east in The Beltrami State Forest. There is something for everybody. If I run in to you sometime I will take you out and get you good and lost! But you will enjoy it.

Also mark your calender for the second weekend in Feb when they run The Ditchbanger's Ball out of Karlstad which is 35 miles north of TRF. This is a good old fashioned high mile poker run. Last year I think they had about 135 sleds plus you can run it in a pickup too if you want. Also there is getting to be more and more vintage shows and vintage runs if you are in to that. There is lots to do. It isn't the UP and never will be but there is aways somehting going on. It is just different from what you are used to.

Back in TRF today and saw another semi load of Yamaha sleds..do they assemble to Yammy motors and Cat chassis in TRF?

Every single Sidewinder ever made was manufactured in TRF. Also every Viper since about 2015. Or whenever they went with the Yami na triple. They build Arctic's for awhile and then they switch over to Yamis for awhile. The Yami motors come fully assembled in a little box. TRF assembles no motors. None. Zero. Nada. They take the motors and put them in the sleds and hook everything together. Not much has changed since the Pro Cross chassis came out. In like 2012. Go ahead and tour the place. You will be amazed. That the doors are still open.

I haven't run into too many DNR over the years, just a few but if you are in a groomed highway ditch the state patrol or county sheriff's department can also give you a ticket. The one I hear about the most is running a stop sign. I have ridden probably 80 to 90% of the trails in NW MN so look me up when we get snow and I can show you around. The trails around here don't get rough from traffic, it is the wind that ruins them. I hope you enjoy your time in Thief River Falls, it is a nice quiet town
