MN Arrowhead Region - best routes to/from Two Harbors - Tower

Which routes have best trail conditions and grooming? Rode the state trail last weekend up to Grand Marais and it wAs great!

We were there last year and the Taconite trail from Ely to Tower was amazing. 2 wolves trotted in front of our group of four one morning. We rode it 3 times that morning, it was a soft curving wide and roller coaster type trail.

I was up in Orr a couple weeks ago and rode north towards I Fall one day and the trails were very good, you may hit a rock or two here and there but nothing too bad. Worst trail was from Orr on the south access spur to the Arrowhead trail, just a few rocks and rough. Day 2 we headed to Tower via Arrowhead and Taconite Trail. All of it was smooth and flat down and back. Very nice ride. We headed to Ely and back the same way we came. Would have rode one more day but I hit an icy patch on a down hill corner and tagged a tree with my ski so cut the trip short. Heading back to Orr this weekend with my son and a buddy. Can't wait. From Two Harbors head up the Yukon to Isabella then to Ely and up the Taconite to Tower. Should all be groomed now. Not 100% sure but best to call a few places to see what's up.

Hey Snowlover - Eric and Kelly here. Yukon doesn't appear to be in good shape so we may just drop in Virginia and ride from there saturday morning. staying at the casino on saturday - we should meet up somewhere?

Saturday we are planning on heading north towards I Falls and do a loop up that way. Sunday we were thinking about heading south but could change plans around and go south Saturday and north Wednesday. We are driving home Sunday so don't want to ride too late on Sunday, maybe until 6:00 at the latest. Text or call me: 7633502363
