Modular Helmet - Feedback needed

Thanks for all the quick responses. To be clear, the biggest problem with the freezing ports is the portion in the helmet. I can always clear out the mask, but the holes through the helmet are not straight and I have found it virtually impossible to clear it on the trail once blocked. I need to get inside somewhere warm long enough to thaw the helmet. Are the Mod 2 openings at least straight enough that you can knock the ice out?

Thx

Just checked my BRP mod & air holes are in the Viser & I can put my index finger in holes from inside the helmet can't go all the way thru due to smaller openings on the outside. I would think any screwdiver or pocket knife would clear holes since not very deep. Mine don't freeze so not a problem but airhose from mask does freeze solid after many hours of use. Not sure what is going on in your case?

Speaking of the mod 2 helmet. Do they offer a replacement sun visor for them? The tab that you use to slide it down broke off my girlfriends helmet...

What about coating the tube with chap stick or something? I use something similar to keep the ice off of my guides when fishing.

I have the mod2 and wear glasses and haven't had an issue. Usually the most I ride is 150 miles per day. I have ridden in conditions like this week before and haven't had that issue. Not sure what I'm doing wrong? I got frostbite once on my chin and after that I started to use the mask insulator I haven't had that issue.

Just my 2cents but if you were glasses , why not get your doc to give you a contact exam and just wear the throw contacts. That is what i do .
( And if you have a stig in your eye you don't need the fancy contact for stigmatism in this case you won't notice it)
After the 1st few times putting them in I have no problems now with them and just take them out at the end of the day and fresh pair the next. Cost's only a 1$ a day and no issues . I wear a moto x cross helmet down to 0 and a HJC with a elec shield if its any colder or going at night .. Also for years I just wore my HJC with a good mask that had a nose area that aimed down , like the new Klim I just got . Rode with the helmet cracked open 1 notch and never had a fog issue with my glasses.. Both my older brothers have had those modular helmets and junked them for what you describe .. 1 wears throw away contacts now . and the other a heated shield with glasses , and no problems..

My BV2S is awesome! I had the original modular helmet, experienced the same problems mentioned above, then moved up to the BV2S. The BV2S is a superior product; expensive, but worth it. I've ridden in -20F, no problems. Highly recommended.

I agree...

I have the BV2S and the Modular 2. I love them both for different conditions. I use the modular 2 whenever I can due to the way the helmet works (flips up). in the very cold conditions I use the BV2S. I get absolutely no air movement inside the helmet which makes it very warm. In temps warmer than around 20 degrees I don't like the BV2S since it's so warm. I do have the electric shield for the BV2S just in case. I only needed it one time. I change the pads every time we stop at a restaurant...usually in the middle of the ride. I don't reuse them...I just carry extra pads.

To address your problem on cold days...I would (if you can) buy the BV2S helmet and you won't have those problems. Only once that i can remember did I have any ice form on my nose/air inlets on the BV2S and it was easy to clear while stopping.

BRP MOD 2

My experience: For $350.00 I do NOT like it for the following reasons: The mask liner gets soaking wet in a short period of time. The Mask itself is high maintenance requiring to make sure the strings are tight after taking it off the helmut each time. When closing it with the shield closed it makes your head ring, and at times closing it with the full face open is difficult with a neck warmer on. The newer version helmuts(this one 2 years old now) have the breather built into the helmut. Much better design IMO. My 2 cents.

I agree with the mask string tightening, it does become a pain and contributes to the mask tubing getting mashed when closing the helmet. I still like the helmet though and would consider another one.
