The Winter Storm Warning is now in effect until noon PST
Saturday for the motherlode.
* Snow accumulations: an additional 4 to 8 inches from 2500 to
3000 feet... generally 12 to 18 inches with local amounts up to 2
feet over higher elevations.
* Timing: snow increasing this afternoon and continuing
overnight... then tapering off by Saturday afternoon.
* Winds: southeast winds 10 to 20 mph. Southwest wind gusts to 45
mph are possible over higher mountain elevations.
* Locations include: motherlode from Grass Valley to Sonora.
Interstate 80 and Highway 50... areas along Highway 49.
* Impacts: hazardous traveling conditions in heavy snow will
continue through this afternoon and overnight. Dangerous back
country traveling conditions and high avalanche danger are
possible in prone areas.
