Munising area trail conditions?

Was planning to ride Munising area trails Monday through Thursday next week. Would appreciate any report or advice with the warmup taking place and forecast for next week. I have a feeling I know the answer, but still holding out hope anyways. Thanks.

There is a crazy amount of snow all across the U.P. so a couple days of 40+ degree weather is only going to put a minor dent in the snow pack, especially a majority of the trails. As long as clubs continue to groom when conditions allow (temps cool at night), there will be trail riding in many places through March 31.

According to trail reports on msa.org. The trails held up just fine and they are grooming tonight. They are expecting some fresh snow. There is a bad wet area on418 by Autrain. They recommend you take 417 to get around it.

Thanks snocrazy. Saw the report, but nice to hear validation from locals. Considering something crazy now that we've gone from so much to now we can leave the kids and not worry about roofs collapsing or the tractor getting stuck. Looking between there and far northern Minnesota.

lol - the report comes from local snowmobilers who care and have no desire to lie to fill motels etc.

Down to 1 groomer. Bully blew its wad on trail 8 close to miners trail 422.
The deere slid off bridge north of tanglewood in shingleton sat night. so that trail will not be gettign groomed.
Low traffic. Trails were incredible all weekend.

We stayed in Seney. Rode to Grand Marais Saturday morning and Pine Stump Saturday afternoon. Trails were very good. Better to and from Pine Stump. Plenty of snow and not much traffic.

Thursday was rough with pouring rain. Friday, rode Munising to Big Springs and then back around to Singleton. Great conditions!! Watching what happens with the groomers closely. Would like to get one last weekend. Highs near 50 makes it tough. Lack of grooming would be a deal breaker.

Just got done unloading a loaner tucker.... groom baby groom!
Bully getting dragged off the trail soon.... she is dead.

Supposed to be riding the Munising area this weekend with my wife but the 50 degree temps and sun are scaring me. Think I might be cancelling.

If I was you I would go. In 2011 I vowed I would never go to this area again. Went back 2 years ago with 4 kids because the reports had changed so drastically. It was amazing the difference when you get people who actually care in the groomers! This area can handle 50 degrees. Stay out of Grand Marais and fuel up in Wetmore, Shingleton, Pine Stump, and Seney. When we were there with the kids it was 60 degrees out. Go up to Miner's Castle, and walk to Miner's Falls. The fact that they brought in another groomer shows their commitment. They could have just said we are done for the year. We are looking at going the last weekend of the month as long as no major rain storms. Paradise says everything is good there except the swamp south of town. Was there last year in April! Some of the best riding we had all year. It won't be perfect, but it will still be nice.

The only reason I say stay out of Grand Marais is because in and out to fuel will be a lot of blacktop running.

Saw the trail report. Great news! Will they suspend grooming at night if the temps stay above freezing? Or, is that only in the case of rain, like last Thursday?

I rode 700 plus miles on Friday afternoon, Sunday & Monday in the Seney, Munising, Pine Stump & Grand Marais areas, all were in very good condition, by Monday evening getting into G.M. & Seney were getting brown & soupy but still passable. It got pretty warm today, Tuesday & ,I am pretty spoiled with the conditions we had this year so I decided to come home, but I would say if you don't mind running some mud & asphalt or dropped at a staging area you could ride all day. The tree covered woods area trails are great & there is enough snow to last a week of 40 degree plus weather but as you know, they wont groom when its that warm, Off trailing will be pretty good this week. Its suppose to rain on Wednesday, that will suck & sunny with 40 + temps on Saturday, that will probably due the trail system in. Good luck ride it till the end. Unless it gets cold again & we get another snow, good trail riding will probably be done this weekend.

The below mentioned areas are where I did most of my trail riding and they did a fantastic job keeping up with the trails this year, Great job & thank you groomer drivers from Seney, TASA, Munising, Grand Marais, Paradise, Manistique and Curtis, Because of you I was able to put on just under 5000 miles this season.

Thank you for the update, and yes those clubs the last 2 years have been where we've done our end of the year riding and it's been really good!

Grand Marais is still "OK" to get to for gas, some pavement showing where the speed limit goes to 25 mph to the corner by the camping park, other than that part scratching the carbides a bit, its still very passible. have fun!

If cold enough at night for grooming it will be done. The trails really are holding up well. 4 foot base in most areas....
