Can anyone tell me the conditions for 417
along the lake and the trail from Marquette to Big Bay
Was up in Munising this weekend, and rode 417 on Sunday from Munising to Harvey. Plenty of snow on that portion of the trail. Grooming was so-so.
Amazing how much snow Munising is getting lately due to LES. Pretty much snowed non-stop for the 3 days we were up there. Get 50 miles south of the lake and pretty much no snow. But if you stayed mostly east/west of Munising, the snow levels were pretty good. Went up to Grand Marais on one ride - nice ride, again, trails could have been groomed which would have been nice.
Sunday trail 8 to Shingleton was really nice at night - groomer went through late afternoon/early evening and we got on it pretty shortly thereafter.
In groomers' defense, there was a lot of activity up there and it was snowing non-stop, so I'm sure they were doing the best they could.
Very happy with my first trip to Munising. And really enjoyed Foggy's Steakhouse in Christmas!
