The sled is hard to pick thru the trees at low speeds in deep snow. I ride w/ my friends they have the rmk style before the iq. Their sleds feel lighter on the skis than mine. My wifes 06 550 rmk is very lite on the skis. But that sled is very lite. I weigh 180 lbs and the sled is stock. What do i do ?

thank you skylar, I got the part ordered too! My 06 700 RMK is a real front heavy sled. But will climb anything in a straight line. The jury is still out if I will keep this sled. ill marty, remove the front radiator and add scratchers this also will lighten up the front end.

If anyone needs the diagram on how to remove the front rad. I can send it to them. Dealer said it doen't void warrenty. Anyone with an 05 or 06 RMK with a 700 or 900 should buy an extended warrenty for it. You have to pull the motor up 3 inches to fix the pull rope. The sled has many other issues too.

My polaris sleds had limit straps under the skid set to tight. If you loosen these up as far as they go, by the nut on the strap, or by moving at the attachment to the farthest position, as you gas the sled, it allows the sled to rock back on the track and limit the snowplow effect.

Sorry for the poor explaination, but without looking parts list up, it is the best I can do...but believe me the sled will behave much differently if you do this...in powder.

The trade-off is that is won't hold the corners at high speed on the trails.

And as Polarisrider says, put powderpros on there, as Polaris skis suck at almost every thing you want them to do....save for lake racing.

I had the powder pros on mine for two winters, in MY experience, they increased the hard steering, and heavy feel. I love the powder pro skis, but found them a little to aggressive for me. I now run the SLYDOG Powder Hounds, and love them. The only thing I did not like about them was when traversing across a side of hill out in Togwotee, I tended to slowly get pushed down the hill. They wouldn't hold the hill if you know what I mean.

I also run my limiter strap setting at its loosest, I'm not railing corners on the trail anymore, but I sure like wheeling up and over stuff out in da woods and power lines. LOL.

My sled came with the gripper skis, and I had loved my Powder Pros so much on my Renegade, that I took the grippers off, and put Powder Pros on before the snow even flew. The gripper skis I put on my buddies 05 900 RMK, and he loves them. I have spent plenty of time on his sled over the last 3 years, and I like them also. The gripper ski is a fantastic ski considering it's an oem ski.

As far as working better, well, in the sense of it steering lighter, yes, but the Powder Pros will still carve better in the fluff. The grippers do an outstanding job in the fluff also, just not quite as good. A lot of guys out west keep the gripper skis on their sleds, and that syas a lot about the ski right there.

C'mon winter!

Thank you skylar, I had sidehiller 2's on my 06 700 RMK and switched to grippers. I have SLP powder pros on my 05 switchback/rmk for boondocking and technical riding because of how well they turn. Have you changed out the suspension shock spring to the 225#? I just picked it up from Babbitts. and yet to change it out. The boys over to snowest forum said this is the thing to do to lighten up the front. Also got rid of the stock can with SLP can and took out the front radiator. Holz spindles maybe next in line. I do love the brutal torque of the 755 motor.
