I (like Starlaker) have been busy most of the late summer building a new ice shanty.
My dad passed on in August and left me an unfinished shell. He had the roof and all the exterior done for the most part. Between my son (who thinks this is his new giant fort) and my wife, we were able to get things mostly wrapped up this past weekend. The only thing left at this point is the 19" LED tv which is in shipping right now. Other than that, all lights and tv run on (2) 12 volt batteries that are charged by 2 solar panels. There is also a hook up for a generator and 2 outlets inside for the pizza oven and such which will run only when needed. Carpet was laid, 2 rod holders still have to be installed along with one rattle reel. Overall I like the way it turned out.
This shanty will be between Lake Tomahawk, Willow Flowage, and Lake Minocqua this winter. Stop on out if you see us!
