Well one item off my bucket list. This was something I will never forget. Here is a link the rookie HD video I shot.

It was quite the day.
Woke up @1:00am to board a bus @2:30am.
We arrived at the Kennedy Space Center @3:30 am.
Got on the bus to go to Causeway @6:30 am. (This is the closest Public view spot)
Left for Causeway @7:30am after Go for a try today.
Arrive at spot @9:00 am.
Launch @11:30 am
Back on bus @12:30 pm
Back to bus boarding location @5:00 pm. They say there was close to 1 million people viewing the launch on the space coast area. This gave us the 10 mph traffic back.

Causeway bus tour tickets $350
Hotel $400
Air $600
Catching the last shuttle
launch in history Priceless

awesome, how far away was your spot? still loud i bet!

I was 6 miles away on a causeway. I thought it would be louder than it was. One part that stuck out to me was even thought I was 6 miles away it was so bright it was hard to directly look at.

I agree with the others, I would have loved to see it some day. Thanks for sharing.

I understand its a budget thing and it had to be a hard decision to make. But we just put an end to a slice of history because of our spending problem, what a shame! On another note I heard the private sector is already working on a new rocket of some kind that might be able to continue sending people in years to come.

I understand the fact that we should end the shuttle program. The part that kills me is the ending of manned space flight by NASA. I mad that they stopped the Orion program which would have replaced it and costed alot less per flight.
