My Yooper Weather Forecast for 2020-2021

First, its going to snow this winter, It always does.

Second, there will be a white Christmas. I can't remember ever having a green Christmas although we have come close a few times. As a kid, I asked my Mother if she ever saw a green Christmas and she never saw one either. So based on experience I will have to predict a white Christmas.

Third, since winter is starting early this year, I predict a mild start to the winter. We had snowflakes as early as Oct 2nd and our first accumulating snow on Oct 16th. It seems to me when winter starts early it comes and goes into early Dec. If winter comes late it usually comes with a blast and stays. Remember, the old folks say the third time is the time the snow stays for the winter.

Fourth, since everyone says we are moving to an La Nina state we will probably have a nasty winter especially since we are having above average precipitation. Right now Lake Superior is 10 inches above its long term average.

Fifth, Remember if we have a thunder storm before the leaves are on the trees we will have more snow.

And last since I'm the only one praying for a mild winter on this site, I think my prayers are out numbered.

Here is picture of first snow on Oct 16, 2020. This is not a picture of my house, but of someone I know well only a few miles away.
