Had a very strong storm move through our area today, strong enough to move the swing set.

I am a little concerned over the condition of our waterski jump....

3 turn around on my 7 mile commute because of trees across roads! FOUR TREES partially down in my parents yard, none in my own yard. MADNESS. I almost got blown right off my feet trying to make it to the car. Biggest storm of the year.

Chaos! Down trees everywhere, power out all over the place, damaged cars and blown out windows. I made it to work but had to go around several LARGE trees that were down; large meaning over 2 feet in diameter....

Big storm in east central Iowa. Lost about six trees and spent all day cutting them. Started bad when I found out I didn 't have any gas for the chainsaw.

Here are a couple pics from Burnett County, WI that happened on 7/2/11. The cloud is from Spooner, WI in Washburn County.

I have a buddy that has a tree service in the Chicago north suburbs. He says they are still over three weeks behind on cleaning up from the last storm. He stopped answering his phone. He and his guys are working from 5 am until it gets dark.

Great Grand Ma's power still out & saying 500,000 to 700,000 homes still don't have power. Now that is a lot of people!

Thanks there N IL.. Guess who gets the storm after it leaves you? We had 1 death from it. Tree falls on 3 season room and kills father of 6. He was 38. Thousands lost power here in Grand Rapids, MI area also.

PR1 - that's HORRIBLE about the father of 6! I guess I just figured the Lake Michigan machine would have tamed that beast that came through here. And to think I was just grateful that I wasn't one of the folks here in OP who have no electrcity on this stupidly hot day! There's some perspective for ya! :(
This storm was crazy! Came out of W Nebraska around 3:30 pm on Sunday and was a squall line that then hit the Chicagoland area around 8 am. That beast was moving! The maple outside my 2nd fl bedroom window had me worried there for a bit. BIG ol' trees down in Oak Park!
I'm on a different elec grid than my neighbors - so I look across the street and down the block at the black. Still upwards of 500k without power!
Comcast (cable and internet) have a generator on top of their 'box' for their customers with power.
