We have reservations in Mercer for this weekend, arriving Sunday afternoon. We are traveling about ten hours. In the opinion of seasoned riders are we going to be wasting our time going to Mercer? You guys understand LES one heck of a lot better than I do. All input is appreciated.

I am not going to say go or not but on the NCN there appears to be a bunch of sleds outside the gateway lodge in mercer. There were not any a few days ago. Someone also posted in the area conditions section (i think) that IF Mercer gets the predicted snow then all of iron co. should be good.

IF you do go, ride up thru hurley and the western UP as they have been/will be getting hammered with les.

All area forecasts are saying same as JD 4-12 in lake belts. LES has been moving around this year very fickle but sounds like LES belts will all get some. The lake water 34-35 ish degress F & not much ice so that is a good thing. You are taking it on the come not what is here now. I do beleive it will snow but traffic will be very very heavy so think about that more than if it will snow. Traffic, groomers & new snow on icebase is really what you should be weighing. On the other hand no other place to ride unless you head to northern MN or Houghton. Trail conditions will be changing by the minute this weekend so some will think it is great others that hit ungroomed trails wil be bitchin. Crap shoot IMO & up to you.
