I love this sled when it is running. dropped in 3 new pistons a while back. the following year put new crank and bearing in it. now one of my pistons is low on compression. i think it is cause each time i tore it apart i honed the cylinder walls therefore now standard pistons are slightly too small. looking at buying bigger pistons and didnt know if anyone has done this and if i buy standard pistons .20 over do i need to bore it out to accomodate the pistons or can i just put them in and fire it up. thanks for the info.

I had one of those. It was a 95 xlt with a 96 xcr 600 in it, it was a sleeper to other riders. It had to much tapper in the center cylinder. I mic'd it and had to punch it 20 to get it round again. The extra "cc" will be fun.

Yes, whatever pistons you buy, .010, .020, .030 you need to have it bored out to fit those. Buy the smallest number first that way IF it blows up again, you have room to go bigger if needed the next time around.
In your case right now, pull the motor and have it mic'd, or if you have the tools, mic it and see what it is at now before you buy the pistons.
