Looking for a place to ride between Christmas and NY, not too far west of the Bridge, close to trails and Casino? And a good rental place. Thanks

Depending on the weather prior to Christmas, how far west of the bridge you have to go might vary quite a bit. I have stayed rite at the casino in Brimley. Its on the trail and only about an hour fifteen from the bridge.

If you want to drive a little further and have much better snow conditions. Stay in Christmas at the White Pine Lodge. Its clean and cheap, right next door to the casino, gas station connected, on the trail and two bars with good food within a !/4 mile. Also about a 45 snowmobile ride to the casino in Harvey. Its a lil over 2 hours from the bridge.

The Amiricinn or the Super 8 in Wetmore are good also. Under 2 hours from bridge, on the trail, near gas. Roughly an hour snowmobile ride to the casino in Christmas and about 2 hour ride to the casino in Harvey. Also should have good snow here by X-mas.

Get ready to change plans on a days notice . Just incase there is a rain event. I have had to do this before. Sometimes the weather really throws a " wrench " into the plans. More consistant snow on the west side of the UP that early in the season.

I agree... You can run into a rain event anywhere up there in December. I have found that you are usually safe anywhere north of M-28 in the eastern central and central U.P. by the time Christmas gets here. (except for last year, where every point in the UP had bad conditions at some point during the season) ultimately west of Gwinn and north of US-2 will always have the better conditions.
