New 18 axys 163 sled set up. NEED HELP!

I bought a new axys pro rmk 2018 163 last March and I think the dealer pulled it out of box and put it on my truck. It isn’t set up at all. So I came from a 14 pro rmk 155 and that was a “tippy” sled. I could side hill and hold en edge. Put it on its side and it would stay there. This 18 163 refuses to tip on its side and will not hold a line when side hilling. It feels like all the weight is on the front. I softened the front shocks and softened up the rear track shock a ton and still no changes. I rode it yesterday in UP and it was like riding my 2010 dragon 800( sloppy-heavy jaloppy) Almost traded it in on the way home. I’m so frustrated! Can anyone help me? Information about me I’m about 6’3” and about 310 lbs dressed. Do any of you guys have any ideas on how to set this sled up?? I’m going to CO in 3 days so it be nice to have it figured out by then.

Thanks in advance!

Crank the heck out of the front track shock.
Have you measured the springs?
Clicker shocks or no?

I haven’t measured the spring either. This is the first time I had to set up a sled so thanks for the help.
No clickers. I’ll try that. Front track shock is at center of shock so I’ll try to crank it tight!

Thanks,

Adam

Look in the owners manual. The factory set up values (spring pre-load, & clicker settings) may be in there to give you a starting point. It is in my 18 switchback.

Measure all your springs and let me know. Edge of spring to edge of spring as it is on the shock.
I have same sled and a little lighter of your weight.

I don't remember where Im at, and Im not by sled right now. Otherwise Id just tell you where Im at. I can check mine tomorrow afternoon.

btw my Axys is quite a bit lighter feeling on the front than my Pro. Both 163". Though Ive never ridden them outside of the deep snow in the mtns.

Rear measurements done with Sled laying on its side
Front shocks at 9.25 when on the ground

Rear front track shock is at 7-3/4” and rear track shock 11”
This is after I adjusted it ti morning. I drove it in the yard and it’s better but I think I’m going to tighten the front track shock some more. Manual says to tighten rear shock to 9.8”. But then I don’t think it will transfer? Right?

Thanks for continuing to help

Here's my numbers. Now Ive only got 2 trips on it since new, so Im still playing with it too. But the only adjustment I made last year was to change my front shocks to my liking. This fall I tightened the preload of the front track shock. I dont recall what it was front factory. But the 2 trips I did have, the snow was very good and in very good snow IMO the setup isn't as critical unless its trenching bad. I pretty sure I put at least 3/4" of preload on the FTS.

Anyway my FTS is 7 7/8" right now. My RTS is 10 5/8". Throttle side front shock is 9 1/8" Brake side front shock is 8 7/8".

More FTS preload make the sled pivot more at that point. Makes skis feel lighter. And opposite is heavier skis.
More RTS preload keeps the front end of sled down. Makes skis heavier. And opposite is lighter skis.

Also, more FTS preload makes sled trench more. So is awesome deep powder, you may want to lessen preload to prevent trenching.

Hope this helps. Im going riding tomorrow for a few days so probably won't be on here.
