New Sled

Well, it's not actually new but I had been looking for a sled for my kids. My daughter turns 12 next yr so she can ride trails while my son (9) has outgrown the 120. Its a 1998 Supersport with 4800 miles. Its in great shape and runs very well. In the picture my son was trying to start it. When he finally pulled the rope all through he fell flat on his back in the snow. But it started!

Cool! Looks clean! I gotta tell ya, it's nice that at least 1 of my kids can ride...but the added expense of trail passes, gas, etc etc is enough for me to tell him he's gotta get a job outside of this family if he wants to ride!? :D

Congrats on the new to you sled!

That will be a great sled for them to take the next step on! I'm sure they are excited. :)

That's cool. Nice piece of hardware for the kids! I can't wait to buy my kid his first sled.

The last few years, I've been reminded how much time and energy and dollars my parents put into taking all of us riding. 4 kids. We usually owned 2 sleds and borrowed 2-3 sleds to make it work... I sure do have a lot of great memories from those times...

I am kind of cringing at the thought of pulling up to the gas pumps the first time with 4 sleds to fill instead of just the 2 now. It will make an expensive hobby a very expensive hobby soon. But it is also something we enjoy doing together now so I would hope it gets more enjoyable as the kids get older and can ride their own sleds. I know it will be more enjoyable for me as after 8 yrs of riding with a kid in front of me this is my last year of it!

ELF,...

Very Cool!
You can not put a price tag on Family memories!
Enjoy every second.
They will remember this time for the rest of their lives.
I'm glad my parents did the same thing for us kids.

Elf,
That is very cool. We just purchased a Yamaha Ovation for our 11 yr old daughter so I hear you about the gas prices at the pump. We also purchased a brand new 4 place inline trailer this year. It's a very expensive hobby but again as Big Vin said "You can not put a price tag on Family memories" I can't wait.......
Enjoy

My son starting riding an Ovation at age 9, an Indy 440 at age 12, older 600 at 13 and a Vector at 14. The transition has been pretty amazing to watch over the years. He's now 18 and a very responsible rider. I would not trade anything for the trips we have taken, whether it's with momma when we ride a little slower or just he and I when we wick it up. Fond memories of him riding his Ovation on the Bill Nichols trail when he was 10, it was a larger then life trip for him. :)

Elf,

Congrats on the sled. I'm sure it is the start of many cool memories for you and the kids.

My kids started on a Kitty Kat (the same one I learned on in 1971!). They then moved on to a Yamaha Bravo, then to a Polaris Indy Light 340. I just bought an '05 MXZ 380 for my now 14 year old son, and the 11 year old son will probably move up to the Indy. As you can tell we're extremely brand loyal!

Snowmobiling has been a key part of our family memories. Credit goes to my grandfather for getting us all started with a place and equipment to ride. We lost him at the end of August at 98 years. He lived an incredible life but this will be a sad Christmas without him.

Sharing snowmobiling with my sons has provided great experiences. Family trips, taking the safety course with my older son and father/son trips provide a lifetime of memories. My younger son can't wait until next year when we can take his safety certification course. Enjoy your time with the kids. It is expensive but worth it.

We're headed to the cabin on the 26th to make some more memories and all we need now is snow!

Thanks everybody for all the positive feedback. Snowmobiling has been an important part of my life growing up. As a kid I remember many family trips and with other families. My dad was instrumental in setting up the snowobile trail system in Burnett Cty, WI in the late 60's and I remember being out in the groomer with him when I was 3-4 yrs old. I've been making sure it's something I do with my family now as it's a great way to do things together and we do have some great memories to talk about. It's obviously going to get more expensive but heck, we built a vacation home for the main purpose of having a place to go sledding. Not only did we buy the 1998 Supersport for my daughter but I have a 95 Supersport I am getting running for my son to start riding around on also. They both have drove our sleds at times and do a good job on them so they'll do fine.

On another note, I do now have a XC120 for sale so if anybody is interested, I have it posted on the classified section.
