NFL Officiating Suggestion

The no call for defensive pass interference in the Saints / Rams game was horrible. Why not have a red flag no call or wrong call challenge once a game for the head coach? Seems logical to me and shouldn’t slow down the game pace that much. Wdut?

That was horrible, I still don't understand how something so blatantly obvious can be overlooked. I hate to say it, but that was the game changer. Shouldn't have been able to get away with that at all.-Mezz

There are probably a few ways to eliminate this problem, and I mean eliminate! But for now, I'll go all the way with yours whitedust. What's a few minute review going to cost anyone? This BS call cost the NFL a whole lot imo. Say commercials? I must ask, with all the money involved with, and in the NFL itself, how, and why are we stuck with this crap? Really? What happened in that game just plain unacceptable, period! And in a very important, high profile game like this one to boot? I watched many videos this morning on the play, and just can't see how this being able to happen! Even my wife was livid. The overtime deal has issues also imo. And so the B+B boys are back in the SB again. It just seems they do get the job done somehow! I will be behind the Pats to kick the Rams *** so as to not have a illegitimate SB winner!

Exactly mezz! X2!

count me out on anymore replay. In fact the NFL should just scrap the whole dam replay system. It is ruining football.
It has taken all the drama and excitement out of big plays. You're team just threw a game winning TD with no time on the clock and it's a close call in the endzone. Could go either way. The ref signals TD, but now because of replay everything is reviewed and the drama and excitement is lost from these big plays. You can no longer celebrate these kinda of plays because of replay.

Also I think refs have gotten "lazy" knowing if they make the wrong call replay will bail them out.

I used to be a proponent of replay but now these calls where,,,, this play isn't review-able, the call can't be overturned because there isn't sufficient enough evidence to overturn,, the whistle blew therefore the play is dead and not review able,,, the seemingly 5 minutes it takes to review a obvious call that grinds the games down to a halt, blah, blah, blah,,, its just gotten to be too much for me.

People have to realize the game is an inexact science, played by humans and reffed by humans.

The missed call was horrible, a game changer, and even the defender expected the flag.

BUT - I will not shed a single tear for that play costing the Saints the game.

Just for the record, the Saints are not my team, nor were any of them in the play offs. That particular "No Call" was horrible, no matter who the team was that was affected. There was no need for review, there was absolutely no question what happened during the course of play. Any "human" could see that without need for review. That should have simply been called upon immediately by the refs & or the booth - period. No tears hear, simply put, that defensive attack was totally unacceptable & IMO deliberately & unequivocally unsportsmanlike conduct, regardless of the team.-Mezz

I agree! I don't think too highly of their head coach. Remember he was suspended from the league? He also talks trash with the players from other teams. Not a good man IMO. Karma!!

That play could have had two flags. Technically that could also have been leading with the head, head to head on defenseless receiver. I quit watching on a regular basis after the first packers Vikings game this year. After defender holding Adams hands in end zone no call and Mathews perfect form tackle a penalty on the interception, not investing my time anymore.

Yup at least the refs are consistent....they started the season terribly as well as ending it the same way.

Just wait until the Super Bowl, you will see all sorts of "Well, that's the way it should be called" corrections on the field, just like last year.....

Why didn't the crybaby saints do the same as NE did in the overtime and win the game there. In my opinion it couldn't happen to a better team/coach. First the MPLS miracle and then the non call. 2 years in a row the Saints get to stay home and watch the SB on TV. Go Rams.

You see a bunch of the refs for that game are/were from California? LOL NFL is a bigger and bigger joke every year. Did you catch the probowl? Why do they even bother. I watched the last 10 minutes on a pit stop while riding yesterday. What a joke...

Totally pointless game and has been going downhill for years. No one wants to get hurt in a meaningless game probably should scrap the game not entertaining at all as a NFL football game.

Maybe they could do a replay or a coaches challenge on those types of plays or even allow the refs to look at those calls with the last "X" minutes of the game. As for the Pro Bowl, If I was selected as a player I wouldn't risk playing in that "game." ....but for some reason I haven't been selected yet... Its not even TV worthy and with all the bad things on TV today that's a big statement !
