I had Kip price me out a beautiful new 650 VR1. I was really looking forward to it. But I called him on Monday to cancel. I was scheduled to have ankle replacement surgery at the end of March. But guess what? It is an elective procedure. Even though I can hardly walk. I kind of need to function a little bit in the summer months so hopefully I can get it done in the fall. But there is a significant recovery period. So I am not going to have a new sled I can't ride sitting in my shop. Just a very small example of how this fiasco is and will effect the economy. Maybe next year Kip. Sorry.

I even bought a new Simplicity 0 turn mower for this summer that I can operate without using my feet. Oh well. Another 10 grand out my butt.

Sorry to hear your predicament Grub but the same fate recently happened with my daughter threw off her whole summer. Hospital cancelled her surgery as soon as Covid hit the radar with no new schedule. More waiting no idea when she can have her surgery.

Where did you have it scheduled Grub, I know in ND the state always said elective surgeries didn't have to be canceled

I’ve had wrist surgery rescheduled 4 times now. Planned it after snowmobile season and after the band gigs in March. Now it’s planned for May 21st. Gonna be a fun summer with no golf. Even bought a suicide knob for my lawn tractor so we can cut the lawn with one hand.

Sorry to hear Grub. You're not alone having to alter previous plans and purchases. I too am having elective surgery, hip, and have been bumped down the list with no dates being scheduled yet. While I am practicing social distance, I will take the earliest date possible to have this done in hopes to be recovered by winter. Summer outdoor activities and interests are just as important to me as winter but sledding in winter just holds a little more weight! Hopefully it works out and I'll be ready to go come December Keep the faith and good luck!

Hi Bear. Good to see you post. You must have come through your ordeal OK. I did go to Valley Bone for a consultation. But the Dr they have there that does ankles is really new at it. I don't want a rookie carving on me. So I am having it done at The Orthopedic Institute in Sioux Falls by a guy that has done a lot of them with good results. First they have to fix a torn ligament and the that has to heal for two months before they do the ankle itself. That is why I wanted to start all this in March. Cram all my deductible in to one year. Hopefully I can get started in September so I can still have all the surgery done before next year.

Harski don't worry. They have hips down. I know a lot of people that have had hips done. They all say the pain is instantly gone and they are up walking just about right away. Not to say it is a minor operation but if you could get 3 months of recovery I would bet you could ride next winter. Good luck! I am up at my place at Lake of The Woods right now. Opening fishing is next weekend and the lake is still solid ice. White ice. There is no way it will be thawed off before next weekend. Skiroule and Crossfire are to blame for this as they have permanent residences up here and should have taken care of that.

I could of had my surgery last fall but didn't want to hinder sledding! :) So, that was the hope of scheduling this spring but other hurdles came up so it is what it is. You're right, this type of surgery goes well most of the time and I'm told the previous discomfort is long gone. The only real pain is from beating yourself up for not doing it sooner!! LOL! Anyway, good luck with the fishing....I'm seeing locals around me hitting shorelines for panfish so that is my sign to grab the pole soon myself!

I had a hip replaced almost 9 years ago. Recovery time is very short. My first followup appointment was 10 days post-op. Doctor said to use crutches until then. He then gave me **** for using them when I went into the office. He said to get rid of them as I was walking too well and didn't need them. I was in the hospital overnight after surgery but less than 24 hours total. I have heard of hip replacement now sometimes done as an outpatient. MD used the anterior approach where no muscle or tendons are cut. Felt like strained muscles after surgery. No pain medication was needed post-op. Even is you have to wait until fall, I think you will be fine for snowmobile season. I was pretty much back to normal after about 2 weeks.

I took care of that ice for you. Was out at Zippel Bay yesterday. Nothing but open water as far as I could see in all directions now.

You're a good man Crossfire. As white as it looked on Friday I thought there was no way.
