no spark indy 500 1996

i have a old 96 indy 500 that has intermident spark and my daughter would like me to get it fix becouse it is suppos to snow in IL. this week any thaughts to fix.

A bit more information would be good, when does it spark, when doesn't it, does the engine run at all, etc. As much information as possible will help us in diagnosign your problem.

ok i got it to run for about 1 hr. and it died but be for that it didnt have spark so i unpluged the coil and pluged it back in it sparked a pull or two and quit i have tryed that three or for times over three day i think it is the coilpack it is so intermident one time it will spark and the next time it wont this THING has given me truble for two years im ready to push it in the river and forget it

Start with some easy things. Cut off 1/4" of the plug wires and screw the caps back on to get a good connection. Check all the wire connections, watch for rub points, like by the jack shaft and starter rope, that would cut through the insulation. Fresh plugs with solid top terminals (not screw on type). If you get it running, try an auto type timing light to check the consistency of the spark on each cyl. You have a monoblock coil pack, so both plugs fire at the same time. if it is a stator poblem, both plugs would have the same spark patterns. Coils can be tested by a dealer, I have never been charged to test them.
