Start with some easy things. Cut off 1/4" of the plug wires and screw the caps back on to get a good connection. Check all the wire connections, watch for rub points, like by the jack shaft and starter rope, that would cut through the insulation. Fresh plugs with solid top terminals (not screw on type). If you get it running, try an auto type timing light to check the consistency of the spark on each cyl. You have a monoblock coil pack, so both plugs fire at the same time. if it is a stator poblem, both plugs would have the same spark patterns. Coils can be tested by a dealer, I have never been charged to test them.
