Rode in Rangley Maine last March. The snow was very poor in all of the NE last season, but where we rode (to demo some Polaris sleds) had enough to get around and with a decent snowpack would be awesome! Lots of terrain, lakes, beautiful scenery. This season they are doing very well. About 2-3 feet in the past 5 days alone!

I believe it is about a 3 hour drive from the Old Forge/Tug Hill region.

Loops? To get trail passes? Or the actual drive there?
Please elaborate.

X2! This is on my radar to possibly visit one day. Explanation of your opinion would be appreciated.

Thanks!

The actual drive to get there for me was no different then going to the UP or Hurley,WI . when you got there you had to go register your snowmobile at the BMV, join a snowmobile club and have proof of Insurance before even getting your trail permit, this in it's self was a day of vaca/riding wasted already and a 100.00 to boot, trail permit was 35 or 45 at that time? 135.00 or 145.00 walking out the BMV. once we got riding out of Forestport to Olde Forge, there was a gatehouse there where we had to purchase another trail permit just to ride the Olde Forge Trails, say another 35.00. then leaving Olde Forge to Tug Hill, wow what do you know another trail fee/permit needed..by this time we just turned around and rode the forestport area. granted this was in 2003 and not sure if its the same way now? was a very nice place to ride, plenty of snow, I would go back if they would just work on their out of state program! all the extra permits was just to much. Maybe someone from NY or MRBB can chime in on this if they see this.

you left out the $50's in tolls and turnpikes....
as far as permits go it's only prolly gotten to be more extreme. since when does the gov't ever reduce spending and waste?

Know the feeling, our trip up next week is on hold just to see how bad it gets by Monday. Northern, Mn or the Keewee is our only option, Vermont is just to far to drive.
