I dropped in Phoenix about 8:15AM, took 124 to Gay, trail was in good shape, a few bumps but nothing major. There were more sections that were completely flat than there were with bumps. Plenty of snow cover, a few turns had a bare spot, but nothing to cause concern. From Gay I took 133 north to Lac La Belle. This had a light to moderate chop the whole way. Nothing that would bounce you off a sled, but pretty consistent with some bumps. One spot a track machine had run the trail for logging and it made some decent size ruts on the edges of the trail. Took 132 from Lac La Belle to trail 3. This was almost mid season from. No thin spots, only a couple bumps, reminded me of a typical weekday mid season. From the intersection of 132 and 3, I took 3 south to Phoenix. This was the worst. Some areas were very large whoops, but everything was moderate chop at a minimum.

I talked with 4 guys that came up 3 from Greenland and they said it was pretty much like that the entire way north of Toivola. One guy had his quart of oil break open in his tunnel bag it was so bumpy. They did say the Superior Club had groomed trail 3 so south of Toivola was perfect. Right now its 41 degrees at 2:45 and Keweenaw Trail Services has their groomers on "stand-by" until it gets colder.

Overall it was good ride. 65 miles with only about 8 miles when I couldn't wait for it to smooth out. It took about 3 hours and 15 minutes and I made 2 ten minute stops.
