Started on the canal this morning 3-14-18 as there was enough visual traffic last night, no slush or cracks encountered. Got on trail 3 a few miles down and took it to the 17 cut off back to Calumet; all trails were groomed and excellent with plenty of good snow. Filled up at BP in Calumet and parking lot was about 30% bare but easy to get gas. Back on 17 north and onto 3 north again and 3 was great all the way to top of Brockway Mtn. Met two groomers that were fine tuning the nice trails.
Went into Copper Harbor and the trail through town between 134 and 3 was mostly blacktop, my advice is to skip C.H. unless you need gas.
Left C.H. and took 134 to 135 to 3 south and all were perfect and fast, the 850 is butter baby.
Cut off on 132 to Beer Belly, the trail was excellent but once on the road trail it was shot and muddy etc.
Eating lunch now then back on trails.

Part 2.

Departed Bear Belly and again, the road trail is shot but once on main trail 132 it was fine. Temp is 36 now and snow cover is good but snow is getting a bit sloppy in the sun. 132 is fine back to 3, went south on 3 and went southeast on 124 to Gay. 124 to Gay was excellent too but road crossings are getting muddy. The sun is beating the trails down, that is for sure.
Got to Gay and rode around the beach, it always reminds me of what Mars would be like.
Took a quick ride on 124 and cutoff on 122 to Lake Linden, big mistake as there are too many road parallels with no snow and mud, with no snow 122 is shot.
Got back on 3 south and cutoff onto the canal asap to skip the trails that are getting soupy.
Tomorrow will be better, high in low 20's.

As of today 3 is excellent to Brock. 134 out of Copper is also excellent. The road trail that connects them is down to nothing.
