Northern Wisconsin lakes opening up yet?

I am assuming soon with the crazy temps lately. I wonder how that is going to affect the crappie spawn. If these temps continue they will probably be all spawned out by opening weekend.

I'm not sure about that. The biological clocks in the females still have to have mature eggs. I was wondering the same thing around here for walleye and crappie.

Still plenty of ice on lakes but looks very dangerous & I would not think about walking out there. Rain & wind could break it up just have to wait & see. I like March ice fishing in Vilas but no chance this year just warmed up too fast.

2 ATV's were out on our lake yesterday afternoon side by side pulling portable ice houses! I thought they were nuts. I'm on the north shore, so sun affects the ice more, but there is water for about 20 feet from shore already. Ice normally goes out right around April 15th, but it will be gone before the end of the month for sure!

Wow has the lake really lost tons of ice in the last 24 hours! I'm thinking the ice will be out in just a few days. This is a March for the record books!!
