Hi John, great site. I read your forecast text everyday. You often give weather details specific to the "northwoods" and the "northern Midwest" in the same forecast. I know what the northern Midwest encompasses but what do you consider "the northwoods"?
Is there a highway or latitudinal line that you consider north of, as being the northwoods?
Thanks

At the bottom of my forecast text page is a link to terms I frequently use in the forecast text. From it, here is what I say about the Northwoods:
Northwoods - Opinions may differ, but my description of the Northwoods of the Midwest is areas generally to the north of a line from about Fargo ND to Brainerd MN to Wausau WI to Houghton Lake MI.

For the "northern Midwest" I am typically talking most of MN, WI and lower MI as well as all of the UP
