ummm.... yeah, never been in the northwoods in the summer and wanted to come up with family during September. figured we go fishing, swimming, rent a UTV, etc but here is where I need help

1) lodging for a family of 3 - needing a place on the water with a sandy beach, boat maybe to fish out of with the kid etc. Hard to find vrbo's with sandy beaches. Location north of eagle of river preferred as we always stay in Land O area in the winter.

2) can you get an UTV to bond falls? (ATV trail map of the north woods?)

3) any other must do's in the summer.

September NOT summer in the Northwoods even with climate change water temp starts the plunge in mid August. If you are ok with maybe a 70F air temp for an hour in the afternoon then do your thing. I like Fall a lot up North delightful to me but boat & pier comes out week after Labor Day just too cold in the wind to be wet. Great Escape has 2 modest lakefront cabins on North Twin with pier and swiming out the front door. Owner prolly let you use his pontoon if he likes you and he likes everybody.. lol

I agree September is not summer in the north woods. That's not to say you couldn't get a warm spell, but on average it's early fall in September. First weekend in October tends to be the peak of colors (leaf changes). Soil and water temps are very cool by then to make that happen.

Summer in da UP: After the black flies, chiggers & no-see-ums have died off until the first frost - which is typically any time from late August to early October).

July in the Northwoods is perfect. Usually highs in the low 80's during the day, lows at night in the 60's. Water temp is relatively warm, days are long. Negative side is it peak tourist season and cities like Eagle River, Minocqua and Hayward are packed.

We used to go to lake michagamee every summer when we were kids. Great lake.

If you want the Lando area try looking at the resorts on the Cisco chain of lakes there are at least 3 with great fishing, beach areas, boat rentals and 13 lakes to explore. As for UTV Land o lakes rec the skidoo dealer rents and yes you can get to Bonds falls by atv/utv some railroad grades forest roads and a county road. I will agree with whitedust September can get cold on the lake in the water.
