Looking for suggestion on riding this area. Spent the last 20 years in northern Wisconsin, western an central UP. Never been East of Munising.
Looking for suggestions on cool places to stay (private rentals, vbro, hotels, or motels). Cool trails not to miss, and places of interest you have experience.
thanks in advance!

We like the Sleepy Eyed Goose in Curtis, Schubach Farms Cabins in Newberry, and Halfway Lake Resort a little north of Newberry. The Crazy 8's are a nice system in the Grand Marais area, reachable from any of those three lodgings. Of course there's Tahquamenon Falls to see west of Paradise, and Whitefish Point a liitle north of Paradise. These are reachable from all three as well, though from Curtis you'll be pushing 200 miles round-trip. Closer to Curtis but farther from the others is Big Spring, or Kitch-iti-kipi. The WUP gets most of the fanfare, but you really can't go wrong in the EUP (assuming a normal snow year). One word of caution - - Newberry and Paradise trails get TONS of traffic on the weekends - - go during the week if you can. Have fun!

Pictured Rocks is a must see also, its West of Grand Marais. I agree with russholio stay away from Newberry/Paradise on the weekends it's complete insanity. Another place North of Newberry is the North Store, they also have cabins and fuel on the trail. Right across the road is Wolff Inn restaurant and bar. Halfway Lakes Cottages are about a mile South down the county road. Also there is a really nice brewery and restaurant at Tahquamenon Falls. South of M-28 you have some great trails but the snow has got to be right, when it is the Chippewa snow chasers and Straights trail systems are fantastic with the Mackinaw Bridge being the best attraction there is in the UP.
