Wife and I have lived in Michigan our whole life and have been to the UP many times but never to the Keweenaw. We are planning on coming up the 6th-10th of October and are looking for must sees and places to stay, places to eat, etc. Ideally stay at one place but would be open to splitting the trip between two places. I would love to see the mines, wife not as exited about that. Would love to hear what everybody thinks.

I'm sure there will be plenty of other replies from people with more experience visiting during the fall than me, but I've always enjoyed the drive to Copper Harbor north of Mohawk when the road begins to rise and fall with the curves and full canopy of trees hanging over. If you hit the color right there is nothing better. Then head up to Brockway and look over the whole area. If you're there when some trail clean up is going on take a half day and join up with a crew so you can get back in the woods and see some things you never realized where there when everything is covered with snow in the winter.

You have not been in the UP until you have been to the Keweenaw.;) There are a lot of sights to take in & the fall colors are nothing short of spectacular. You will enjoy it here.-Mezz

We just got home today from the U.P.of Mi. Left on our Goldwings on Monday and headed for Munising. Stayed there for 2 days, touring to Seney, Grand Marais areas, Then headed for the Keweenaw. We went to Copper Harbor and places in between.
Always a great ride.
