Cooper1, if you don't hear form anyone I would suggest the following. Get a map of the Hiawatha National Forest in the Munising area, or get a snowmobile trail map that shows all the forest roads and their numbers. You can do a lot of boondocking off of those roads and most of them are not plowed in winter. There are 100's of numbered and named roads in the Hiawatha that are not plowed. If you get a week with a lot of new snow, the forest roads themselves can be fun. The Seney National Wildlife Refuge has a lot of meadows and logged areas where you can get off trail, just watch out for stumps, swamps and make sure you always obey the signs. Also, there is no gas in Shingleton anymore and some of the smaller places run out of gas at times, so make sure you keep an eye on your gas when you get out in the middle of the Hiawatha.
