Wondering if any body else has had or heard of this problem, 96 A/C cougar 550 lc, oil light comes on at high speed (85 to 90 mph) the top end for this sled. There is plenty of oil in the tank, I thought maybe there was a cross in the wiring with the temp sensor, tested this and is not the problem, light goes of after a few moments of lower speed riding. any ideas?

OIL/Temp/Brake light in the guage.

I'm not totally sure on that vintage but isn't that "idiot" light also the brake light indicator? If so, your brake lever is hitting the switch at higher speeds. If they are both on that indicator light try going for a run and when the light goes on push the brake lever out with the back of your hand to see if it goes out. Other than that , you may have low oil or bad sensor in the tank.
