One Big Old Fashioned Snowstorm

Looks like Wisconsin in general and maybe Green Bay & the Fox River Valley were ground zero for this storm. Most of the schools here in the valley are closed tomorrow, most of the churches cancelled services on Sunday. I haven't checked but I suspect Walmart is probably open, the grocery and liquor departments might be doing a brisk business. I gave the snowblower a good workout yesterday but you wouldn't know it by looking out there now. Looks like everybody on our street has thrown in the towel/shovel and are waiting for it to end before venturing out. Best guesstimate, 12 to 14 inches and it would've been more had it not started out as rain. Of course if this had happened six weeks ago when the trails were open we'd be the ones taking Monday off.

These are not final totals. Source; WBAY Green Bay

We've been pounded by sustained winds @ 25+ & steady to heavy snow all day & no real signs of it letting up real soon. Fortunately it's been on the colder side so not real moisture laden just real fine & dense. Schools cancelled for Monday. Too crappy to bother with moving it till later! Yayyeah!! Beginning to feel like the real Ground Hog Day movie!:disillusionment:-Mezz

So you are not euphoric about this I take it. I've enjoyed it. It's still snowing lightly here. Basically snowed 55 hours straight. That does not happen in these parts much.

To all of those whining about April, I still sent it! The best riding in central Minnesota has been in April this year! 20180415_152415.jpg

No renegade I am not, Nothing against those that are either, the lack of the white stuff at the time it should have fallen was very detrimental to my business ( not saying I am the only one either ) and I also rely on regular seasons for the other side of my business and this is just a huge set back, just very frustrating to say the least. I also have a camper trailer up north that was supposed to open 2 weeks ago and now... who knows when we will get to use it.... this just sucks!! For me anyways again nothing against those that are reveling in it.

Yep countless trades and business have come to a screeching halt in the wi northwoods. We should be in the final days of ice out on area lakes but not melting at all. Ice out probably will be May sometime and screw up the fishing opener. Forget the pier installation biz and saw a Marina with 50 new boat lifts assembled and sitting in the snow. Forget builders, painters, landscapers, road repairs, boat marinas all of them staring at the ceiling not to metion farmers further south of here. This storm would have been wonderful in December now it just a pita for Spring business.

We always complain about the weather, so here it is. It is what it is, and we complain at a lot less weather problems than this is for sure. Just bad luck!!!!!!!!

indeed we do old abe, too bad central and northern part of the state didn't get this in December or early January that would have been a base that would have set up solid and never went away. Here I am complaining about the 4" we got here thank god not digging out 30", bad luck for sure

I thought this snow was the perfect amount, and perfect timing!

The frost went out late last week, so I was able to pull trail signs over the weekend, on the sled!

I know I would rather pull signs on the snow, than in the mud......

Yep, right you are that this would have been a season making snow earlier in December, or January. Seems as now, only the northern counties in Wis., ever get a base to work with at all anymore. And that's even gotten to be iffy. We dearly enjoy riding SW, and W Wis. But they just don't seem to get the snow anymore. xcr440, yes snow is better to work with than mud. I'm no mud lover. Glad it worked out for you, and you got to enjoy it!!!!!!!!!!

I was checking out at Menards in Oshkosh on Monday and noticed they had a few snowblowers set up near the checkouts. So I asked the checkout lady how many they had sold and she said, "Ten". Then she added, "but that is just at my checkout I don't how many the other lines sold". Cripes!

My part time job is a real estate agent. Not many people walking thru open houses or thinking about listing during a snow storm or when snow is on the ground. Luckily at the fire station this weekend we were not as busy as I thought we would be. We work 48 hour shifts and my days were Saturday and Sunday this swing so I was dreading many accidents. Most people probably just stayed home. I feel for people who rely on snow during the winter for business and also most of those same people rely on good springtime weather to get started with the other side of their business. Sounds like the middle of next week will be on the 60’s here so that sounds good.
