Trails are holding their own after heavy traffic and warm weather...still would call them fair to good overall..road crossings and the railrode grades are snirty and thin in spots...wooded trails are good to excellent....the clubs were out grooming last night....we never got any of the forecasted snow on Sunday into Monday...the 3-5 inches never materialized...we received about an inch of sleet/snow mixed....However it is currently raining with some freezing rain mixed in...roads are awful...two of my weather apps have been showing that it's snowing here.....I can tell you it is NOT snowing at all (one app has had snow over us for two hours and saying two plus inches expected...WRONG...lol)...another round of freezing rain is expected Thursday, and the temps will be warm.....the trails seem to be holding up well so far...but they definitely took a little hit today. I know some of you have seen on Facebook that a couple of the so called weather gurus are calling for a HUGE snowstorm this weekend in the Northwoods...I would caution folks not to get too excited about this...no other "professional" weather service is seeing this....so don't get your hopes up...we'll know more by Thursday.

UPDATED ...it's been raining for 4 hours....what a mess...this will effect the trails...my one weather app says heavy snow 2-3 inches for Tomahawk.....WRONG (it's been saying this for 3 hours...lol)..not a single flake....straight up rain since 11 am

Northwoods Passage just posted this:

With the recent rain today, Jan 6, 2026, the NORTHWOODS PASSAGE is pausing our grooming operations until temperatures drop back down again.
Please refrain from riding the trails, if possible until conditions improve.
Let’s try to save what we have!!
Thank you!!!!

We have a nice base out there, and it's hold it's own...just have to get through two more warm days, and some rain early Thursday...then it possibly changes to some measurable snow...with the potential for more snow Saturday....I would think if people don't ride today and tomorrow...the base will be just fine for the weekend, and any fresh snow will whiten things up again....by early next week trails should be very good again....the lakes are going to be slushy, depending on how much rain we get tomorrow....we just have to sit back and see how it all plays out the next couple of days
