Oneida/Lincoln County Update 12/15

All I can say is it's U-G-L-Y.......warm ,foggy, and misting out right now....roads that had snow on them yesterday are wet and clear now. ...it's definately melting down, and the lakes are a complete mess...thin ice, and LOTS of SLUSH......an ice fisherman told me yesterday that it was very difficult to get to his fishing spots due to the deep slush....it's going to take a long time for the lakes to be safe to ride on.....in fact the trails will likely open with the lakes being unrideable.

Unfortunately we can NOT release any tentative open date at this time, as we are in a holding pattern waiting to see what damage occurs to the trail system with the warm weather AND with the expected HIGH WINDS (tonight into tomorrow)...we most likely will be rebrushing some sections (with high winds in excess of 60 mph expected)......and so we wait...wish I had better news, but mother nature has thrown us a nasty curve ball...such a shame with all this good early season snow.

I will update this as soon as we get "Official" information from both counties. (Remember.. snowmobile clubs do not open the trails...the counties do)

Same here in MW, Vilas County, took a huge hit today, funny that the trails from the road still looked pretty good but we have 12 hours of warms temps, rain, and high winds to go yet. 3 days ago we had about 20" on the ground here, now at 5pm there might be about 6-8" in the woods, lakes are all water, roads are all bare.

Yep...I figured 6 to 8 is what's left here...21 inches was on the ground 2 days ago...took a huge hit today (and it's not over...big t storms headed towards the northwoods as we speak)....the lakes are a mess, slushy and opening back up....we'll be able to access things better tomorrow....but this was not good..makes me sick watching this....
Disgusted right now

Update. ..12/16. ..we lost the majority of our snow the last two days....trails that were packed, or panned are bare in spots...I had 20 plus inches of snow in my yard Sunday morning...there is now less than four....the thunderstorms last night took down alot of trees (lots of people with out power this morning)...its going to take awhile for the clubs to access all the damage, and get it cleaned up.....at this point I don't see how any Oneida and Lincoln County trails can open...but I don't control that...the snow is pretty much gone....the only good thing is with colder weather, it will help freeze up the wet areas, and the lakes...unfortunately...there is little to no snow in the forecast the next 7 to 10 days...so...it looks like we are gonna be in a holding pattern...as soon as I get any official announcements from the counties I will post it here....sorry for the bad news...but it is what it is...cant control mother nature

Iron county opened theirs Monday. Totally trashed what was there. Shame

I highly doubt the sleds that rode did the damage, it was the fog wind and rain. Look at the counties that did not open, they are shot as well to. It was nice they opened as a lot of people enjoyed awesome trails before the rain and 50 degrees came in.
