Ontonagon hotspots

Gonna be heading to Ontonagon on our motorcycle trip in a couple weeks. Anyone wanna share their "must do" and "must see" ideas? Likely only be in town for a couple hrs, then we're off to Silver City and Lake of The Clouds, then stopping in Hurley for the night. What say you?

Thanks,
Rick

That depends, where's "Ontanogan"?

Ontonagon (MI): On-ton-agon, like hexagon, octagon, Ontonagon, sometimes "On-da-noggin"! :p

I'm in Onto nearly everyday and I hate to say it but there is no such thing as a hot spot in Onto's. You can get a monster sized ice cream cone for 2 bucks. If it's a guy names Matt working tell him Andreas dad sent you. That's at the sip and snack at the end of down town, can't miss it and great soft serve. We call it the "slap-n-smack"

Not trying to scare you away for the area but hotspot I suppose has a wide range of interpretation. I assumed you meant something like a hopping bar or something like that. The beaches are cool but other than that there are a few cool bars, antique shop,,,,, you know, small town stuff like that

Go to Otown at least once so you can say you have been there. Typical small UP town as Lenny said but enough there to have a lunch and move on. I have not been back in many years but maybe again this year by sled. From Otown easy connection by trail to White Pine & Silver City.....the trail is uneventful but that is ok.

Dat's fer sure, it ain't like da old days, when grandpa motored off from the farm on an all-day ≈60 mile round trip to "the big city" in his old 1948 vintage pick-em-up truck to visit the bank and what not, wearing his "business suit — dress slacks with a cuff and a crease", starched(!) white shirt with arm garters and french cuffs, and the ever present fedora. (I can hear Edith Bunker now, screeching: "♫ Those Were the Days ♫"… ) ;)

If you have only a couple hours, I would also suggest Stub's Bar. It will take you that long to look at all the stuff ! Good luck, MZEMS2.

I believe Stubs is not only a bar but also a "museum" according to the sign. And it's worth stopping there just to see all of the old stuff on the walls and ceiling.
