Orr, MN MelGeorges/Elephant Lake area

I was there over the weekend. It's actually pretty good, considering. There are some slushy wet spots on the trails, but not too bad. The issue will be how it's groomed to keep the slushy from turning into icy ruts.

Also, the arrowhead to crane lake link trail is not passable. Beaver dam was blown out, and washed the trial out at the half way point. Be aware! The water is four feet deep.

Heading up in 9 days as well, was also wondering how things were shaping up, the link trail where the Beaver damn blew is that east or west or the gorge,

Did they blow out another damn? I saw the pics from the local boys that did one 3 weeks ago by Trails End, that trail was fine then.......

Edit:
Wait, you must be talking about the more northern trail, not the one that goes by the VRT.

Correct. And, yes apparently they blew the dam Friday evening. No, Not the trail that passes VRT. I'm talking about the one that turns off of the Arrowhead and goes to Crane lake, ending at Voyagaire. On the map, it is labeled as the Crane Link. The washout is about half way down. It was possible on Saturday to bypass it on the forest road. The road was plowed, but snow covered, and it looks like a dirt road, not pavement. However, I would guess that it may not be snow covered any longer, given the rainy conditions over the weekend. It wouldn't take much snow for it to be passable. We saw pictures of the washout, and it appeared to be growing by the hour. I would not cross it. We heard of some skipping across, but also heard of several going in... like up to the windshield.

Yikes, I have not been through that trail this year yet - I know they had a number of beaver damn issues in that area. Thanks for the heads up.
