Outdoor wood boilers?

Starting to think about maybe putting in an outdoor boiler. I have enough small wood to burn in the house for next winter yet, so this is probably a year or so away. I just like to do my research ahead of time.

What do you have, and are the gasification units worth the extra money?

I am going into my third year of using a Portage and Main ML 30 wood boiler. I installed the same boiler for my in-laws this fall. Whatever one you get make sure you use a good underground pipe. I used the one Central Boiler sells. I do not get any heat lose and you can't tell where my line runs. I have had no issues with it. I heat my house, domestic water, and my garage.

Check out Central Boiler. I do not have the LP option for my operation. I am running my hot water heaters on my system so even if I run out of wood or go away for a weekend or something the water heaters will kick in and keep the water in the system from freezing up. Also I have some boiler anti freeze in the system to protect it down to about zero. John Dees has the LP option on his set up. It is extra piece of mind plus an alternative but if you utilize hot water heaters and/or a furnace plenum heater your water will never freeze should your stove not get fed. The only way your system would ever freeze up would be if the power went off and your pumps quit running. However if that happened your LP wouldn't fire either. There are many ways to do a boiler.

from the research I have done, I see the gasification as a superior unit because of the added efficiency. it's like buying an old 80% gas compared to a 95% gas. The tech is there so why not. I plan on buying an indoor gasification with holding tanks, even more efficient and every year your use it you are a head

Ive been running a auqatherm 175 for 12 years, one leak on the outside mild steel the firebox is stainless it has paid for itself many times over, I heat with a air over water exchanger and also have a water over water exchanger for hot water heater. I love the unit looking at going to the next size up in the auqatherm line.
