We got a late start yesterday for a ride due to an uninvited guest in the cabin. Seems that a red squirrel got in either when my wife let the dog out, (100 times) or when I brought in a load of firewood, (once). Guess who got the blame? Took off from PI on 6W and was pleased at how nice the new powder was. One set of tracks all the way to 14W. Took 14W out of PI to Circle Lilly Road in MW. Cutting through fresh, untouched powder the whole way. It was weird not following tracks and a couple of times I actually had to look for the trail. Late lunch at Shillelagh bar which was empty and then I realized that we did not encounter another rider on the trail the entire 25 miles. Ride back to PI no other riders again until we hit Retreat Bar. We took it pretty slow because braking and steering was an issue with the solid ice under the powder but it was one of the nicest, private rides in a long time.
