Hello i am a long time reader and not much of a poster but i have a small issue that i am working on and i was wondering if someone on here could help me out with.
i have a 2008 z1 non turbo and i am blowing belts constantly on it the last one blew with in 400 miles it was a brand new belt and was broken in properly. i checked the alignment of the clutches and they are within speck. so then i move to checking the Parallelism of the motor which this measurement is out of speck i am wondering if anyone has adjusted the parallelism on this motors and if they could tell me what the best way is to move the motor so that it is within speck.

I think that would be something for the dealer to figure out. Surely shouldn't be blowing belts like that.

Pull the belt and open secondary and drop in a flat bar. Measure to the back of the primary on all four sides. Top, vs bottom. Front vs back. Checking isn't too hard, but adjusting is a little tougher. Shims under motor mounts if off parallel.

Good post favoritos : I have never had to mess with a Cat ( YET ), but after seeing your luck this year .... ( I'm mjk1 on hcs ) it has me worried. I do not have an offset tool yet but feel assured the dealer did not check my offset.

hulst: on another sled after I smashed it up and knocked the alignment out, I had used " PWC " shims to tweak things in enough to ride. I did start blowing belts @ 85 or so when beating it but this was a temporay solution until I replaced the modules and re adjusted alignment. They look like this : and are about .040 thick

You may have a broken or torn motor mount. first check your torque stop to see if the rubber is still on the end of it and if the gap is at the specs in your owners manual. Your engine is twisting to much causing belt alignment to be off, this will eat belts big time. You can buy a clutch alignment tool to see if the alignment is off. Something caused this. I suspect a tore motor mount. (this is poo advice and hope it is the same on a cat)

Thanks for the replys. I thought it was going to be something along the lines of shimming under the motor. I will inspect the mounts first to make sure non of them are broken. Thanks for all the advice so far

So Nathan, I see you live down the street from me! I know a guy with a sled shop who will look at it for you over on 36th st. and Timpson. He won't charge or very little to figure out what is eating your belts if you bring it to him.

Polarisrider1 why don't you shoot me the phone number for the shop you are talking about. This is actually my dad slead I will get him the information and let him decide what he would like to do. It is also good to have a local place to look at
stuff. I think he was also going to call the dealer today to see if they had a easy way to fix the issue.
