Pembine to Dunbar

Hats off to Pemenee River and Dungood Riders for taking such good care of their trails during the warm up. Today I figured I'd run from Pembine to Dunbar and take my UTV over my sled. There were a dozen or two sleds on the trail or in Dunbar. I thought the trails were fair to good considering... The south loop from Pembine to the T was in the best shape. I did not take the north loop. From the T to Dunbar was fair. There were some icy and worn spots. Overall the main base was very firm and often ice. It would seem that 4-6in would really bring the trails back. I tried to upload some photos with no luck.

Just a heads up that this trail is ATV/Snowmobile combo. Also, with the condition of the trails currently, the side by side does zero damage. I understand when the wheelers are a detriment to the trail, and today is not one of those days. :)

Only if its 48" Wide. Otherwise you get a Ticket. If its over 48" wide and you kill someone, then what.

As a sled and sxs owner I total agree that sleds should have their season and utv/atv have theirs. According to the 48" limit any sxs would get a ticket as no one makes a 48" to my knowledge. I got the AC Trail, 50", as they where the only ones legal on national forests. Polaris I think came out with a 50" now also. Even in the summer it's tight on the trail when you meet a 72" wide sxs.

There are some areas in certain Counties in Wisconsin that allow UTV operation on some Trails. In my opinion as a Groomer operator that has been in many close calls with Sleds. A UTV over 48" is dangerous and a accident waiting to happen on any narrow Trail. If I wanted to go for a Winter ride on a UTV, I would stick to a Road Route and have good Insurance. Also if you meet a Groomer be prepared to back up until you can get out of the way and then you may sit there stuck in the Snow.

Bladeguy, I see about an inch - inch and a half on the ground at my place in Pembine. On a side note, I took my SLED to Dunbar from Pembine on Sunday. Considering the warm up, I think the trails are in good shape. From the T intersection that begins Dungood Riders trails, to Dunbar there is some good and some fair spots. I wouldn't call anything poor. I spoke with a group or riders that had ridden north and west of Dunbar and they seemed very pleased with the trail conditions. I was planning on riding that area tomorrow or Thursday.

Thanks! I rode from Dunbar NW also and it was good. However, by Sat night the little bit of fresh was blown off and my motor was getting hot. Trails should be great now but I am not sure if that is enough snow to keep trails great through the weekend...
