Phazer oil change

I have a 2009 phazer MTX. I had an oil and filter change done before last years season. Due to my job, I was only able to ride about 500 miles. I will be in the same boat this year and will probably only be able to ride another 500 miles. Should I do another oil and filter change? Should I just drain the old oil and replace it with new stuff and leave the filter alone? I've been told that the oil will start to break down after a year even when it is not used frequently. I don't really agree with this and I think that I will be fine not doing an oil change. Any thoughts?

Read your manual....after the 500 mile oil/filter change, the change interval for the oiil filter is a lot more miles. On my Rage and Vector I believe it's 10,000 miles. Oil change at least annually.

I change oil when I put the sleds away in the spring. I use Mobil 1. I change the oil filter every other year when I do the spring oil change. Based on the amount of work it is to get to the filter on the Phazer, and the low miles you ride annually, changing the filter every 3-4 years should work fine. Just make sure you change the oil in the spring before storage.

Meijer carries it now too but the closest store from eastern UP is Gaylord.

I have actually run M1 5W30 since after break-in in my 07 Rage. Running strong at 5K miles and uses no oil. If the weather actually gets cold enough to need the 0W there's little chance I'll be riding anways......
