Phelps/conover lakes

Took the family for a scouting mission to Twin Lake and Lac Vieux Desert (had to look up the exact spelling..ha)

TWIN LAKE:

John (Dublin) and Dennis (Twin Haven) had the barrels out Saturday morning and the lake is marked and being run! Good job guys!! Theres enough snow on the lake but there are a few slushy spots. Had fun at Dublin for brunch on his new breakfast sandwiches.

LAC VIEUX DESERT:

It was cold, but the kid wanted to get some driving time in........Jim & "little" Rob had the barrels out and the lake was marked Saturday morning. Jim (Thunder Bay) said they ran into some real thin ice in one spot and had to reroute the barrels a bit. Just stay close to the barrels, theres a lot of ice fisherman, sleds and 4- wheelers but no cars and trucks yet. Met a lot of fine sledders at Thunder Bay and there were a lot of good tails told.

Winter is here! Just wish the damn Packers would have won!

1st ride of the year (sad considering I live across the road from the trail). Left Conover about noon today on 45N to RR grade at Muskrat Rd - good till there. Grade east to Twin Lake boat ramp a bit rough particularly the 1st part nearest Muskrat Rd (fair to good). Ran the Lake & got off at far east end. Lake was fine but there were the frozen slush areas. Phelps N till the 1st road crossing (Sugar maple ?) a bit rough then smooth. Took road route to Thunder Bay & across lake west bound. Detour to WinterWarlock's but he was hiding from me. Worked my way to Club 45 via road route & trail 8W then south on new trail back to Conover. Overall I rate the area trails good & that was better than I expected.

Hey winter warlock, thanks for the drink at Thunder Bay, I am the son of the father/son that you were with before the packers game, nice meeting ya. We went to Dublins then home for packers game, you stay at thunder for the game?

We went back in morning to dublins for breakfast, and had fantastic sandwiches as always at Dublin. Oh and found out I won squares for the final of packers game!

Sorry about that Jim! Had the family up......Will be coming up again Tuesday, got any time to ride?
Just let me know.
