I spent most of Sunday getting comfortable with the new Blizzard out on the lake.


The winds were from the south and after about 35 miles of open lake, it was blowing plenty hard.


Ice Shoves just off the shore line.


Mother Nature's work before the big deep freeze.


As for the Blizzard, I like it a lot.


My last machine was the 1200 XR and the 900 ACE feels much more nimble with just as much torque and acceleration. It was too rough to open things up, plus with the new engine I thought it best to keep it out of the red for the first ride.
The R Motion rear is everything they promised and the TS Skis with the adjustable carbides work slick as well. Instrumentation, fit & finish, there's a lot to like and I'm glad I made the change. All we need now is a storm or two to get the trails open.

I thought the same when I got the 900 a few years ago. But, it only took one time lining them up to realize my seat of the pants meter has lost a step. lol

Not much and a lot of drifting with all that wind. There's probably 5 to 6 inches out there on average.

Yes, the top end is going to be less and I'm OK with that.

Gary - looks like you are near north shore golf club? I live right next to High cliff and made a little run last night with the dogs (slow ride - they only run at 15 mph). The lake between High cliff and Calumet County park was fairly flat - would think going 60 mph or so would be very doable and safe. There is some slush with the pressure cracks you need to be aware of. If you get away from shore, the wind has blown off and won't be much for lube. Along the shoreline, more than enough.

It's a low performance Doo 4 stroke....are you sure it's Doable?...LOL...about the same performance as the new entry level POO EVO 550 fanner

Yes sir, stayed on the north end. Not too familiar with the east shore line, been down there a few times over the years but more often with the boat.

Yup - once there is good ice, knocking off a 5 mile run for the dog takes me about a 1/2 hour. Not many quicker ways to make that happen, and with tired dogs, they are better in the house, and wife is yelling at them. As the story goes, happy wife..........

As you are familiar with your area, just be aware of the current areas. When I fly over 'bago, you almost always see open water between the two areas feeding the fox. Also, there are some springs near high cliff st park, but with this cold weather you should be fine. If you see discolored snow, avoid the area.
