Here's a couple of pictures of the Lower Fox River in downtown Appleton. This water is from the Wolf and Fox watersheds flowing out of Lake Winnebago at Neenah & Menasha and ending at Green Bay, about 40 miles north. The last picture shows all gates on the dam are open as of Wednesday, May 1rst. Hover your cursor over the photo for a larger picture.

And if you're so inclined, here's what Wiki has to say about the Fox.

Was there a recent heavy rain or is that from snow melt yet? The Mississippi has been at moderate flood stage for over a month now. The second crest was actually higher than the first. Them there pictures look like prime white water rafting conditions!!

The old Mississippi is going to set a new all time record crest now in QC's. Levees, and flood walls are now breaching due to the water being at too high of levels, for too long of period of time. Bad news! As they say, you can't fool mother nature.

Hey Gary,
Local joke; when Joliet arrived south of Green Bay they got out of the canoe and said; "wow, it's deep here"; that is now known as De Pere, WI (where I live).

Anyway to be more serious, take a spin over to Black Creek (where the Easter Bunny is from) on Hwy 45 and look at the Wolf River; now that is flooded.

Daughter lives in Davenport says said flood wall has “only” seen 21.5’ and they were at 22.3’ yesterday. And still rising. Very unfortunate. Many restaurants/Breweries probably won’t be able to come back. Said water is covering 3rd Street already.(3+blocks inland).

Yes, 47 is correct; sorry about the confusion.

From Oneida, take 54 west to Black Creek then south on 47 and the Wolf is on the west side of the road behind the homes/businesses.

Originally from Moline, IL. Brother says you can't get to Le Claire, Ia via 67 because of the flooding. Highest water in years since the walls were built.

What started as snow melt has morphed into frequent rains. Not necessarily heavy rain, just frequent, causing lots of run-off as you can see. I suspect the weather will flip soon and the sun and warmer temps will dry things out but until then....

This map shows the watershed that's feeding what is shown in the photos. Click on the map for a larger picture.

No pics or stats, but the Sconnie River running through Wausau down to Point was very high yesterday as well.... All the smaller tributaries going west from there didn't look bad anymore. The big Chippewa west of EC was pretty high as well.....

Add millions of gallons of liquid manure
deposited on fields this spring in the watershed region,
runoff gonna make lake Winnie split pea
green again this summer.

Forget Black Creek, when the water was high the gas station on the West side of Shiocton had water across the parking lot and as high as the curb for the gas pumps. They interviewed some old guys and they were like, hey it happens every year. I've been making that commute 5 years and it's never reached the pumps. This 2" of rain is gonna make it swell again.
