Polaris 120 Dies when you give it gas???

My son was riding around the yard for about a half hour and then said hey Dad, I think I'm out of gas? I filled it up, but when I give it throttle it dies. If I pull out the choke it runs fine, then if I give it gas it will run wide open for about 5 seconds and then die again. I changed out the plug with no luck. I was going to spray carb cleaner into the carb, but it looks like a pain in the *** to get to. Any suggestions?

Definetly a dirty carb, need to take off and clean ,carb spray will not do the trick, have to disassemble and clean good. Make sure you use a good fuel stabilizer when you refill the the tank (Sea Foam).

Also, check your oil level at the bottom. I had the same issue and the carb stuck open and filled up the lower half of my motor. Clean carb, and then drain oil/gas from lower half (if needed), then add new oil.

Good luck!

If you haven't already, zip tie the governer spring & pull the air filter, no dust in the winter.
Like said above " glad those days are over "........ kids did have a ball, they learned how to crash with " honor " ( LOL )

Might as well google (www.recmotor.com/ ) good stuff there if you want to go that far.

On another note , not so funny now when they flip the big toys all over. None the less as long no one gets hurt, " It's All Good " ! Their just a chip off the old block, less the broke bones ect.......

I had a similar problem last year with my sons 120,the throttle cable started to frey on the inside of cable jacket and stick and would trip the throttle safety switch. It acts just like a carb. problem.
