Polaris CFI Fuel sock issue (can you hear your pump?)

I was having some issues with my 2012 Switch 600 going into DET. I couldn't figure out why.

I could hear the fuel pump running very loudly sometimes. It's on the left side of the machine.

First I thought that it was because it was so cold out that the fuel system was froze. I always run 91 NON ethanol in it. Turns out that you're supposed to run ISO in the gas if you run non ethanol. So I drained the gas, thawed the machine, put fresh in...still DET and if it wasn't going in DET it had a major bog.

Second, I changed the fuel filter. Same problem.

Third, I bought a new fuel pickup (sock). I had heard some guys were taking their old one out and cleaning it. I thought I would just buy a new one. I changed it and PRESTO! Works perfect and I no longer hear the fuel pump. $70 fix.

My old sock is brown as opposed to white. It looks like a cheese cloth. Somewhere along the line some gas went bad. It was sitting in the dealership as a leftover when I bought it so that may have been the start of it, I don't know.

Just passing along some information in case you run into this issue. Went to the dealership and they had no clue what was wrong. They said the fuel pump was probably bad and that the new pump came with a sock. They said that they've never had that part in stock that I wanted.

Yeah I believe that this is a known issue on these machines. It probably could happen on any of the newer style Polaris's.

I'm sure many dealers are changing out the pumps because of this. That fixes the problem because it has a new pickup on it.

Now that your fuel pump has been sucking on a clogged sock, you might want to keep a spare pump around. It could be tired.

I Have 2013 ASB 800 with bog sometimes, I don't see the sock like your machine has. Is there a different pickup in my machine?
