I attended the Polaris demo ride in Cohassett last weekend. I will give my hats off to Polaris as this event was top notch. Providing the ability to ride a sampling of new sleds before making a purchase or just to make comparison if your from another brand was really nice. We spent a good 2 hours on the trail, and there was ample opportunity to provide feed back, give suggestions, and ask questions.
I was able to ride 4 new sleds
2011 Switchback Assault
2011 800 Rush pro-R
2012 Adventure (600 136 Rush)
2012 800 Switchback (136-rush)
Everyone in the group loved the new 800 136 rush, the ride and handling was superb, I was also impressed with the trail handling of the 144 Assault considering the long track. It seems Polaris got there act together with their 800, we were told this is a completely different engine from the previous versions with the infamous "mid-range stumble".
I asked about a 4-stroke Rush in the future, and from the repsonse I got I wouldn't get my hopes up. I wouldn't hesitate in purchasing anything from Polaris right now, the only draw back I see is their fuel economy, but at the same time I prefer the handling and rider position when compared to other brands.
Hopefully they continue this program and it'd be nice to do the same with other brands as well. If your in the market for a new sled or just want to get a feel for what's out there it is defenitly worth the trip.
